Reading Programs
Want to read engaging books, challenge yourself to read more, and have the chance to win prizes? The Belleville East Library invites all students to participate in our three reading programs: Belleville East Genre Challenge, Read for a Lifetime, and the Illinois Teen Readers Choice Lincoln Awards. For more information about each program, check out the sections below. If you are interested in any or all programs, please join our Google Classroom so you can receive book recommendations, reading reminders, and more!
Genre Reading Challenge
Ready for the ultimate reading challenge? BE Library divides our fiction books into eight genres. Explore those genres by reading one book from each genre throughout the 2026-27 school year.
To help you plan your reading, we’ll be highlighting one genre per month. If you read that genre during that month you can fill out a Reading Rewards raffle ticket at the library circulation desk.
Registered students who complete the challenge of reading the eight books by May 1, 2027 will receive the following: a free book and an invite to the library’s Readers Celebration party.
One lucky student will also win a pair of brand new Beats Headphones!
