Belleville East
History

Belleville East is one of two comprehensive high schools in Belleville Township High School District #201 in Belleville IL. Belleville East and its sister school, Belleville West, comprise the largest school district in St. Clair County with over 4700 students. The Belleville East mascot is the Lancer.

Prior to the 1966-1967 school year, Belleville Township High School District #201 operated only one campus, Belleville Township High School, which was located at 2600 West Main Street. Due to increased enrollment, the Board of Education approved construction of a new campus and the student body was divided between the two schools. The new campus was built in a college style with many different buildings. The newly commissioned Belleville Area College (now Southwestern Illinois College) occupied half of the campus while the new high school occupied the other. However, enrollment in the school increased rapidly and the college was forced to move to its current location.

Campus

The Belleville East campus is located on 76 acres of majestic wooded land, at the corner of West Boulevard and Carlyle Avenue. This beautiful college-like campus contains 19 instructional buildings, a football/soccer stadium encircled by an 8 lane all-weather track and additional athletic facilities to accommodate cross country, baseball, softball and tennis. The educational facilities include a state of the art performing arts center, culinary and trades labs, and a variety of classrooms designed to meet the educational needs of our students.

Health Services

The Belleville East Health Office provides many services as a supplement to care given by parents and the medical community. The Health Office is not a clinic and should not be used as a substitute for medical services normally provided by family physicians.
