BELLEVILLE WEST STAGES DRAMA FOR THEATRE COMPETITION

Belleville West Little Theatre will present the annual contest drama on Thursday, March 14.  This year’s offering is Rabbit Hole, a contemporary drama by David Lindsay-Abaire. Becca and Howie Corbett (senior Ryann Gordon and junior Eric Perschbacher) have everything a family could want, until a life-shattering accident turns their world upside down.  Becca’s mother (junior Sylvi Segraves) and sister (junior Jordyn Struense) attempt to comfort the couple, but Becca doesn’t want to face her grief. Rabbit Hole follows Becca and Howie on their bittersweet search for a path that will lead them back into the light of day.  The play won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The contest play offers a unique opportunity for drama students.  The play must be performed within a 40-minute time period, and student technicians have 20 minutes to set and clear the stage for performance.  Rabbit Hole will compete against other area schools to win a berth in the IHSA state tournament.  This year’s sectional competition will be held on Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16. The production is directed by Mr. John Lodle and Mr. Tyler Herron.  The student directors are seniors Camryn Houk and Aiden Mudd.  Student technical directors are senior Mitchell Elliff; juniors Megan Groom, Teddi Lacey, Melaina Robison, and Sean Teutrine; and sophomores Izy Austin and Noah Hernandez. The March 14 performance is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the Belleville West Performing Arts Center, located at 4063 Frank Scott Parkway West.  Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults.  Advance tickets are available for sale at this link.
