Here's a fun fact for Groundhog's Day: Groundhogs (aka woodchucks) will soon be appearing to give the annual weather forecast. As we look forward to Groundhog’s Day on Thursday, Feb. 2, many will ask the old question, “How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?” Based on the fact that woodchucks can move about 35 cubic feet of soil, a conversion of that volume to an equivalent weight of wood gives an estimate of about 700 lbs. That’s right ... woodchucks could chuck about 700 lbs of wood ...  if they "could" chuck wood. You’re welcome!

~ Dr. Short and the Wildlife Ecology classes.

Students: This year FBLA has entered in a contest called “Teens for Jeans” hosted by the Aeropostale Company and DoSomething.org. The “Teens for Jeans” campaign has donated over 1.5 million pairs of jeans to homeless kids all over the United States.  So Belleville East, we are wanting your unwanted jeans, even if they are torn.  Starting Monday, bring your used jeans to the entrance of the cafeteria and drop them off in one of our boxes.  Any student that brings a pair of donated jeans will receive a 25% off coupon to purchase new jeans from Aeropostale.  If Belleville East becomes the Grand Prize winner by collecting the most jeans, our school will win $5,000, brand new jeans for every East student, and a party for the entire school to enjoy.  So please donate your old jeans for a great cause.  We will collect jeans through Thursday. ~ Mr. Crask
