Model UN: We will have a quick meeting right after school on Thursday, March 22 in F205 ~ Mr. Novaria

 

Octagon Club: Please attend our meeting tomorrow morning in T building at 8:00 A.M.  Remember to bring all of your supplies for the Easter baskets.  We will be assembling those during the meeting.

Mu Alpha Theta Senior Members: Final points will be tabulated after Friday, April 13th. All tutoring must be completed by then.  If you would like to wear cords at graduation, please make sure you have enough points by this date. ~ Mrs. Sanders

 

Students: If you are interested in trying out for the Varsity or JV dance team for 2012-13, you must stop by and see me in F101 before the tryouts to get the contract and necessary information. You must also have a current on physical on file with the nurse.. Tryout will be held on Tuesday, March 27th and Wednesday, March 28 from 3:45- 5:30 in the gym. ~ Mrs. Zobrist

 

Juniors and seniors: If you are attending prom, you must pick up a blue prom permission slip form the bookstore. This form needs to be completed and turned in at the time of ticket purchase. Prom tickets will be on sale March 26-30 (for seniors only on the first day).  Tickets for couples are $110 and for singles $60. Anyone bringing a guest from another school will need to have a permission form complete before you can purchase your tickets and it must be turned in at the time of ticket purchase.  Guest forms can be picked up in the bookstore or on the website.

Lancers: Are you ready for some new menu items at The Daily Grind? Well, starting tomorrow, you are getting some. How does Sunny D, Sour Skittles, Fruit Snacks and Blow Pops sound? As Easter break approaches, look for the cafe to start selling marshmallow Peeps too. ~ Mr. Crask

 

Attention Lancers:  If you are a fan of American Idol and America’s Got Talent, you’ll love the 2012 Belleville East Variety Show.  Come to the P.A.C. Thursday, March 22 & Friday, March 23 at 7:00 pm to watch Belleville East’s most talented students sing, dance, and play their way into your hearts.  You can then choose a winner by casting your vote for your favorite act.  Tickets will be on sale during the lunch hours in the cafeteria lobby on Wednesday and Thursday.  You can also purchase tickets at the box office.  This is one show you do not want to miss!!!

Juniors that were accepted into Mr. Crask's Marketing Co-op program for next year: Please stop by O104 as soon as possible. I need to know your current employment status before summer and I have a number of jobs that need to be filled now. Please, only students that were accepted into Marketing Co-op for next year need to see me.

Ping Pong Club: Our next meeting will be Monday, March 26th after school in the main gym. You must sign up in F206 to be able to attend this meeting. We will only be accepting 32 students so hurry to my room to sign up.  ~ Mr. Padgett

 

Students: You’ve read the book. You’ve seen the trailer. Now it’s your chance to see the movie! Join your friends from West in attending an advanced showing of The Hunger Games at the Lincoln Theater this Friday at 4:00 p.m. Bring your family and your friends to this combined event. Tickets are only $4.50 each and can be purchased from me in D304, Mrs. McGarrity in D205 or T100, and Mrs. Templin in S204 today through Friday or until tickets runs out. You can ask your English teacher for further details. ~ Ms. Sorg

Congratulations: At the Mahomet-Seymour Indoor Invitational on Friday the Varsity Girls Track team finished 3rd.  The following Indoor Lancer records were set   55 Meter Dash 7.36 by Jessica McCaskill and Pole Vault 11' 0" by Anna Gailius.  The following finished 1st  Jesscia McCaskill in the 55 meter Dash and 55 meter High Hurdles, Chante Mosby in the high jump, 4 x 200 Relay (Taylor Sunkett, Chante Mosby, Sidne' Willamson, and Jessica McCaskill), Throwers Relay (Anna Gailius, Tunyia Clark, Sadie Mosby, Montira Mosby)

 

Congratualations to the Dance Team for winning state titles in both Jazz and Lyrical dance and placing 3rd in the hip-hop category. This marks the 2nd year in a row that they placed first lyrical and 3rd year in a row they have 1st in Jazz.

Announcements for Thursday, March 22, 2012

 

Seniors: Are you pursuing a degree in the teaching field? See me in the Counseling Office by Friday regarding a scholarship opportunity. ~ Mrs. Douglas

 

Students: If you are wishing to join the Belleville East Bass Fishing Club you need to come to the first membership meeting this Friday at 7:45am in D 101.  Please bring your current 2012 state fishing license.  ~ Coach Brown

 

Juniors and Seniors: Looking to have some fun after the prom? Come join us at the After Prom at

Bel-Air Bowl from 12:00 midnight to 4:00am!! Awesome activities, food, prizes and entertainment!! See me for more information and check out the posters around the school. Tickets go on sale next week during the lunch hours in the gym lobby. ~ Mrs. Gillott

 

Students:  Several of you have taken your lunches outside to take advantage of the outstanding weather we have experienced.  This is a wonderful privilege that is afforded to you, but as with all privileges there is some responsibility attached.  We have a beautiful campus and we want to keep it that way.  There has been an excessive amount of trash left on the terraces and the picnic area behind the cafeteria.  This needs to improve or the privilege of taking food to the picnic areas may be eliminated. Be responsible for yourself and clean up your own mess. ~ The Administration

 

Students: Do you consider yourself good at science?  Next Wednesday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the Cafeteria, Beta Chi Phi is sponsoring a Science Trivia and Engineering Design Night.  The cost is $5 per person with teams up to 5 people.  Sign up with me in Q203. ~ Mr. Shawn Hennon

 

Students: Are you a “people” person? Think you could sell ice to an Eskimo? A future in business, marketing, or sales may be the career path for you! Come learn more about the world of commerce on Wednesday, March 28, as part of the “Career Chats” series in the Counseling Center. Come chat with the executive director of the Chamber of Commerce, and get the inside scoop on what you should know about your future! Please sign up with Mrs. Kumke in the Counseling Center. ~ Mr. Wilder

Congratulations to all of the performers for making this year’s Variety Show such a success!  And now, here are the winners:

3rd Place – “Unseen Skyline” featuring Megan Triefenback, Jenny Rea, and Heather Hamilton

2nd Place - “Roflcopter” featuring Brett Gutierrez, Nick Lohman, Joey Mannino, and Ried Warma

1st Place - Freddie Rice with his amazing performance of “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow”

Congratulations: At the Southwestern Relays on Saturday the Girls Varsity Track team finished 5th.  The following girls had outstanding performances.  High Jump Chante Mosby Jump a personal best 5' 6" and finished second.  Pole Vault Anna Gailius tied the meet record 10' 6".  Long Jump Alesha McCaskill finished 1st with a leap of 16' 1.5". The Shuttle Hurdle Relay finished 1st (Alesha McCaskill, JaNique Brown, Alexis Hardin, and Jessica McCaskill).  4 x100 Relay team finished first with a blazing 48.82 (Jessica McCaskill, Chante Mosby, Sidne' Williamson, and Aniecia Brewster) and the same young ladies finished second in the 4 x 200 Relay.   The 4 x 400 relay finished 3rd (Keanna McIntyre, Taylor Sunkett, Brynesha Mosby, and Aniecia Brewster) ~ Coach Mitchell
