Beta Chi Phi – Science Honor Society Members:  Our next meeting will be Thursday, March 15th at 7:45 a.m. in the PAC.  The shirts and hoodies are in, so bring your money to pick yours up.  We will also discuss the Trivia / Engineering Night, as well as Lancerfest.  Also, we will be participating in the Character Breakfast on Central Terrace on Wednesday, March, 14, so if you can help at the table at 7:45, that would be appreciated. ~ Mr. Hennon

 

Juniors and Seniors: The following colleges will be in the Counseling Office next week: Missouri Baptist,

University of Missouri in St. Louis, Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville, Illinois College, Western Illinois, Millikan University, and MacMurray College. Sign up in the Counseling Office. ~ Mrs. Kumke

 

Students: Auditions for next year's choir will be held next Tuesday, March 20th and Thursday, March 22nd in the choir room.  Last Saturday our show choir, Blue Revolution, placed first in their division at the final competition. For more information, see me in I104. ~ Mrs. Netemeyer

STRIDE, Octagon, Ecology, Campus Greens, Lifesavers, Mashariki, Student Council, NHS, members, and Lancers of all backgrounds. It’s time to get politically active! Please come join the Young Democrats for food, fun and fellowship at our monthly meeting this Friday March 16 in 0206. Current members must bring a new member to attend, but admission for new members is free. We will have delicious food and refreshments on hand. The meeting will begin at 7:45 but you can stop by any time before school.  Please see me in 0206 if you have questions or cannot make it. ~ Mr. McEvilly.

 

Congratulations: Also could one of you guys put in the announcements that the girls track team finished 2nd out of 30 teams at the Charleston High School Girls Indoor Invitational.   New Girls Lancer indoor records were set by Chante Mosby 5' 4" in the High jump and Anna Gailius  10' 3" in the Pole Vault.   Finishing 1st were Aniecia Brewster in the 200 Meter Dash and the 4 x 200 Meter Relay Team (Taylor Sunkett, Chante Mosby, Sidne' Williamson, Aniecia Brewster).   Finishing 2nd was Keanna McIntyre 400 Meter Dash.

Character Craze is a NEW and EXCITING event that Belleville East is starting sponsored by BASIC. This week is devoted to making Belleville East “beleaf” in positive character both at school and outside of school.

 

Belleville East Character Craze Week Activities:

 

Megan Meier Foundation Fund

BASIC will be teaming up with the student body to raise money to support the Megan Meier Foundation. Donate at least $0.50 during your lunch hour to receive a black and white polka dot ribbon to wear on your lanyard. All proceeds will be donated directly to the Megan Meier Foundation.

 

Megan Meier Assembly

On Friday, March 16, Tina Meier will be presenting the mission of the Megan Meier Foundation. “The mission of the Megan Meier Foundation is to bring awareness, education and promote positive change to children, parents, and educators in response to the ongoing bullying and cyber bullying in our children’s daily environment.” At the assembly, Tina Meier will be presented with a check from the collection during the lunch hours.

 

Beleaf Tree

During the lunch hours, students are encouraged to fill out a leaf to share with the rest of the student body about what good character means to them. The tree will be displayed at the assembly on Friday.

 

Fill the Trailer

During the Character Craze Week, a trailer will be displayed on Central Terrace to collect clothing and other items for the Violence Prevention Center. The Violence Prevention Center works to protect those who are victims of domestic abuse. All proceeds will go to this organization.

Items needed: Women and children’s clothes, baby items, non-perishable food items, health and beauty items, toilet paper, Kleenex, and toys

 

Daily Announcements

Each day after the announcements are read, a BASIC student will come on the announcement to read a quote about the Character Word of the day.

 

Lancer Family Breakfast

On Wednesday, March 14, at 7:45, clubs and organizations from Belleville East are encouraged to bring breakfast items to central terrace for a Lancer Family Breakfast. Come mingle with your peers and enjoy breakfast!

Octagon Club:  Project Compassion needs our help this Saturday, March 17th from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to work a rummage sale.  Please see Mrs. Seneczyn or Mrs. Baldus immediately if you can work.  Any part of the shift would be helpful. ~ Mrs. Seneczyn

 

Lancers: Have you ordered your yearbook yet? Time is running out, and we are almost sold out of copies! Order your yearbooks today at jostensyearbooks.com. See me if you have any questions. ~ Ms. Davis

 

Students: If you are interested in trying out for the 2012-13 Varsity or JV dance team, please stop by and see me in F101 on Monday or Tuesday after school to pick an informational packet. You must also have a current physical on file with the nurse to tryout. Tryouts will be held on Tuesday, March 27 and Wednesday, March 28 from 3:45-5:30pm in the gym. ~ Mrs. Zobrist

Announcements for Monday, March 19, 2012

 

 

FBLA: Our next meeting will be Wednesday at 8:00a.m. in Q121.  All next year’s Office Occupations and Marketing Education students are encouraged to attend.  We want to select officers for next year.  This is a great way of getting involved in a leadership role.  Everyone interested is invited to the meeting.  If you would like more information, please see me or Mrs. Siebers ~Mr. Crask

 

Juniors and Seniors:  Prom tickets will be on sale March 26-30 (for seniors only on the first day).  Tickets for couples are $110 and for singles $60. Anyone bringing a guest from another school will need to have a permission form complete before you can purchase your tickets and it must be turned in at the time of ticket purchase.  Guest forms can be picked up in the bookstore or on the website. ~ Ms. Czyz or Mrs. Moss

 

Students: The H.O.P.E. Club will again be doing a Krispy Kreme fundraiser before school on Thursday and Friday. If you would like to order some delicious donuts for your class, please email or spark orders to one of us before Thursday. The cost is $6 per box. ~ Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Keim

Announcements for Tuesday, March 20, 2012

 

Juniors that were accepted into Mr. Crask's Marketing Co-op program for next year: Please stop by O104 as soon as possible. I need to know your current employment status before summer and I have a number of jobs that need to be filled now. Please, only students that were accepted into Marketing Co-op for next year need to see me.

Lancer Book Club: Orders forms for Senior Pick, Fahrenheit 451, are in S105. Money and forms are due by Friday, March 23rd. ~ Mrs. McIlwain and Mrs. Whitaker

 

Ping Pong Club: Our next meeting will be Monday, March 26th after school in the main gym. You must sign up in F206 to be able to attend this meeting. We will only be accepting 32 students so hurry to my room to sign up. ~ Mr. Padgett

 

Students: You’ve read the book. You’ve seen the trailer. Now it’s your chance to see the movie! Join your friends from West in attending an advanced showing of The Hunger Games at the Lincoln Theater this Friday at 4:00 p.m. Bring your family and your friends to this combined event. Tickets are only $4.50 each and can be purchased from me in D304, Mrs. McGarrity in D205 or T100, and Mrs. Templin in S204 today through Friday or until tickets run out. Congratulations: At the Mahomet-Seymour Indoor Invitational on Friday the Varsity Girls Track team finished 3rd.  The following Indoor Lancer records were set   55 Meter Dash 7.36 by Jessica McCaskill and Pole Vault 11' 0"  by Anna Gailius.  The following finished 1st  Jesscia McCaskill in the 55 meter Dash and 55 meter High Hurdles, Chante Mosby in the high jump, 4 x 200 Relay (Taylor Sunkett, Chante Mosby, Sidne' Willamson, and Jessica McCaskill), Throwers Relay (Anna Gailius, Tunyia Clark, Sadie Mosby, Montira Mosby)

 

Congratualations to the Dance Team for winning state titles in both Jazz and Lyrical dance and placing 3rd in the hip-hop category. This marks the 2nd year in a row that they placed first lyrical and 3rd year in a row they have 1st in Jazz.
